Search engines are everywhere

It seems like every site has its own little search engine these days.  I have noticed that on all the major sites like Facebook and Myspace there is an option to search either on that particular site or on the entire web as a whole.

I think that the majority of these little site search engines are powered by Google but I’m not 100% sure.  When I compare the search results of one search to another the results are pretty darn close if not exact.  For example, let’s say I search Myspace for something.  Then Google the same phrase and look at the results.

I have noticed that this seems to be happening all over the place and is not just exclusive to Myspace.  This really has to help Google spread its footprint in cyberspace.  If all the major social media sites start doing this, there won’t be much room left for the other search engines like Yahoo and Bing.  These guys running Google must really know what they are doing.
